Adhesion test on antiseismic gel
.
Earthquake gel is used to adhere furniture and other structures to the ground to prevent them from falling during earthquakes. Measuring the bond strength is imperative to determine the quality of the earthquake protection. This video presents a method for measuring this force using a motorized test rig.
The adhesion test is performed by first compressing the gel to a certain force and then returning. The dynamometer then indicates the maximum tensile force exerted by the gel, which is the adhesion force.
This test is carried out for research and development but also for quality control for risk prevention in areas with high seismic activity.
